Lingap Aral Scholarship

LINGAP ARAL is a program conceived in hope and born in triumph.

The youth sector in CALABARZON composes a significant part of the listeners of DZJV 1458 kHz, “Ang Himpilang Kabalikat ng Diyos para sa Bayan.” Because DZJV values them and because the station is hopeful that they will fulfill the dream of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, of the youth being the hope of our Motherland, LINGAP ARAL was conceptualized.

While LINGAP ARAL is geared to help the youth who are financially incapable of pursuing college, DZJV also aimed that the rest of its listeners would have a part in the triumph of this program. Also, in modesty, despite its success, DZJV recognizes that there is still a need for an increased station awareness and listenership for DZJV.

Thus, LINGAP ARAL, a program that will creatively cater to the youth and encourage listeners’ participation, became a reality.

LINGAP ARAL is a search for a college student residing in CALABAZON who needs financial assistance for his/her studies. Consequently, a One-Year Scholarship will be awarded to the chosen scholar. The scholarship program will cover the tuition and miscellaneous fees of the student as billed by the school.

In order to qualify, student applicants for the scholarship wrote an essay indicating why they needed a scholarship and why they should be chosen over all the other applicants.

The requirements for the essay were simple: must not be less than 400 words and to be submitted either through email or snail mail or personal delivery. Students from all over CALABAZON participated in the search.

From among all the essays, Ms Soc Garcia, DZJV Station Manager, determined four finalists. The scholarship grantee will be chosen among the four.

But the good intentions of LINGAP ARAL changed the lives of all the four finalists. With sponsors volunteering to help, all the four became grantees. The kind-hearted sponsors were: I-Care Foundation, PAG-IBIG, and Mrs. Delia Ramos-Stegen. These sponsors said that that the four students all needed financial assistance for their education and deserved to be scholars of LINGAP ARAL.

“One way to be blessed is to bless others,” said Station Manager Soc Garcia. DZJV 1458 wants to bless these students so that the blessings will return to the station a thousand fold.

DZJV may not be able to help all students all over CALABAZON who are in real need of a scholarship but just as Mother Teresa of Calcutta responded when asked how she can feed a million starving people: “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.”

Mother Teresa also said, “Prayer in action is love, and love in action is service. Try to give unconditionally whatever a person needs for the moment. The point is to do something, however small, and show you care through your actions by giving your time … We are all God’s children so it is important to share His gifts. Do not worry about why problems exist in the world – just respond to people’s needs … We feel what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but that ocean would be less without that drop.”

LINGAP ARAL’s triumph will continue to be of service to the youth of CALABARZON as DZJV decided to make it a continuing program. LINGAP ARAL is once again looking for new scholars.

If you also want to be blessed a thousand fold, DZJV 1458s’s doors are still open for your continuous support and donations. You can also help us in making their dreams come true. Support the LINGAP ARAL PROGRAM. Call DZJV 1458 at (049)545-2152; (049)545-2153 or visit us at www.gosouth.ph
