Showers of Christmas Gifts in July

The spirit of Christmas is not bound by time.

In our culture where the cheers of gift-giving is best celebrated during the Christmas season, receiving meaningful gifts as early as July is one experience that stirs both child-like joy and adult thrills.

Rosita received a box-full of munchies and toiletries last July 29. These were simple gifts and yet their meaning made the 38-year-old mother cry.

showers1“Thank you for showing that you really care,” Rosita told the teams of iCare from the Jesus is Lord (JIL) Church who visited Rosita and 99 other cancer patients at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). iCare Foundation is the social responsibility arm of the JIL Church.

All around the country, JIL Churches regularly conduct hospital visitations under the iCare program, Pasa-LOVE. During hospital visits, iCare teams distribute shoe boxes full of goodies which are necessities for both confined and out-patients. Pasa-LOVE literally passes these boxes to the patients, which follows the example Jesus Christ emphasized in Matthew 25:35-36: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

JIL chose the theme “Christmas in July” for their Pasa-LOVE Program in PGH.

showers2“I praise God for using iCare Ministry as a vessel of hope to us. We really need prayer and encouragement, thank you for showing that you really care,” Rosita said in tears. She regularly visits the PGH for check up since learning in 2009 that she needed treatment for cervical cancer.

Rosita continues a good fight against her stage III-B condition. She considers each day a miracle. And the Pasa-LOVE Program initiated by iCare Foundation is yet another miracle day from God. Indeed, it was as if it’s Christmas Day!

“When I heard the message given by Pastor Joey Crisostomo, it was as if God is speaking directly to my heart to believe and trust Him more. Pastor Joey was absolutely right; God is a miracle-working God!,” Rosita added.

Pastor Joey is the Director for Central Operations of JIL Worldwide as well as the Church Pastor of JIL Greenhills which holds three Sunday worship services: two services in the morning in Music Museum (7:00 to 9:00 a.m.) and one service in the afternoon at the Teatrino (4:30 to 6:30 p.m.) -VJDC
