Rationale
The enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) that the government has implemented is a definite move to “flatten the curve”—that is, to prevent the further spread of the virus and thus, cause a decrease in the number of new COVID-19-infected cases.
While we support this move, we also acknowledge that the ECQ would also result in the loss of income of daily wage earners, the loss of jobs due to the reduction of workforces, and the close of small and medium enterprises.
For this reason, the iCare Compassion Ministries, has launched the program, “iHelp: Tulong sa Pagsugpo ng COVID-19.” This program aims to:
a. collect donations to fund relief operations for JIL members and non-members alike who are financially-affected by the ECQ
b. call for volunteers for the repacking and distribution of goods (while following social distancing guidelines)
c. call for medical and maintenance personnel for the possible option of using JIL properties as quarantine centers.
In support to the effort to curb the transmission of COVID-19, iCare, through its program, iHelp, distributed close to 15,000 pieces of face masks and 2,100 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical and non-medical frontliners alike. Those who benefitted were medical personnel in public and private hospitals, health care units, and dialysis centers, as well as members of the MMDA and the police force of Manila Police District.
With joined hands, we can make a difference in the lives of our heroes who risk their lives by relentlessly waging war against COVID-19. Let’s heal as one!
We have partnered with the following hospitals, health clinics and non-medical organizations:
